Due to the debt problem, the airline stopped operating (temporary) on January 12, 2011. It was reported that the airline asked for rescheduling of debt payments to the Central Jakarta Commercial Court.

On January 16, 2009, Mandala had grounded its entire fleet of Boeing and began to implement the operation policy of a single type of aircraft.
